School Leadership Program III
Program Content
Educational leadership is all about improving learning — for students,
for professionals and for the school or school system. This program supports
established leaders who seek to deepen their knowledge and to hone skills and
dispositions related to the continual improvement of teaching and learning.
More specifically, program experiences center on eliminating existing inequities
in schools by developing the leadership will and actions that enable all students,
regardless of advantage, to have access to high quality instruction. Toward
this end, the program is structured to integrate the following learning domains:
- Understanding powerful instruction and the instructional leadership necessary
to ensure quality instruction for all students
- Learning to think and act strategically — developing a conceptual framework
for leading and managing change
- Understanding the political, social and cultural contexts in which schools
operate
- Understanding complex systems and organizations
- Rethinking the concept of "community" as leverage to ensure equity
and excellence for all students
