GUIDELINES FOR USE

Keys
If your event is in the Seminar Room or Discussion Forum and starts before 9:30 am, ends after 5:30 pm, or takes place on a weekend, check out a key from the Administrative Coordinator at least 24 hours prior to your event.

Equipment
Please inform the Simpson Center of your intended equipment needs when making your reservation. We make equipment available for your use, but you are responsible for all set-up and operation. Simpson Center staff members do not provide technical support. If you need equipment that is not already available, or if you require technical assistance for your events in CMU 226 or 120, contact Classroom Support Services (classrm@u.washington.edu or 206-543-9900) at least two weeks in advance of your event.

Wireless Internet Access
The Communications Building has wireless service. You may connect to the Internet on your laptop by choosing "University of Washington" from your laptop's wireless network access list. If you use a browser to connect to a non-UW website, you will be prompted to enter your UW NetID and password.

Furniture
All of the furniture in the rooms is moveable except for the Seminar Room table, which may not be moved or disassembled. The square tables in the Discussion Forum may be moved together to make a larger table for buffets. If you move any furniture, you must return it to its original position after your event.

Food and Beverages
If you plan to serve food or beverages, you must notify the Simpson Center in advance—preferably when you reserve your space. To protect the surface of the large seminar room table and other vulnerable surfaces, no food or beverages are permitted without proper coverings (e.g. coasters, napkins, placemats). The Center does not provide linens. If you will be serving alcohol, the University requires a banquet permit. The Center cannot accept leftovers, so please dispose of all food items.

Kitchen use
You may use the Center's kitchen facilities, which include a refrigerator, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, serving platters, plates, silverware, wine glasses, and coffee cups. You are expected to clean up the kitchen, including loading and running the dishwasher, after use.

Clean-up
Please return all furniture to its original location, clean dirty surfaces, place dishes in the dishwasher and run it, and dispose of garbage. Please remove garbage to an outside dumpster.
