Gurak, Associate Professor, Rhetoric Department, Scientific and Technical Communication Program University of Minnesota. Professor Gurak received her MS and Ph.D degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She has written two books for Yale University Press: _Persuasion and Privacy in Cyberspace: The Online Protests over Lotus MarketPace and the Clipper Chip_ (1997) and _Cyberliteracy: Navigating the Online World with Presence_ (In press). She has also published articles in _Technical Communication_, _Computers & Composition_, _Rhetoric Review_, _Journal of Business and Technical Communication_, _Computer-Mediated Communication Magazine_, and _IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication_. Her research interests include rhetoric of science and technology; rhetorical criticism; classical rhetorical theory; computer-mediated communication; social aspects of computing; intellectual property and electronic texts; and technical and professional communication.
