Mission

The graduate Certificate in Public Scholarship (CPS) at the University of Washington (UW) fosters transformational research and teaching practices that support equitable and reciprocal forms of community engagament, scholarly production, and movement-building. We promote collaborations among graduate students, faculty members, and campus and community partners that re-envision the ends and means of higher education as a public good; create institutionally accountable spaces within the university where publicly-engaged scholarship is valued and critically assessed; expand and diversify professional development opportunities for all participants; and generate forms of culture, knowledge, and expression capable of responding to the practical challenges and opportunities of the world today.
