Notes from the Club Thank you all for your attendance at our Centennial Celebration and Annual Meeting on September 23. Over 200 people attended! The event was a great success giving us a chance to celebrate our 100 years on campus with you, our membership. Combining the Annual Meeting with this event gave us the opportunity to update you on how the club is doing. We received a letter and a certificate from the Secretary of State recognizing that the club has been incorporated since November of 1909 and has been designated a Century Corporation. In 1909 incorporations were primarily delivered by horseback which was an adventure in itself because roads outside Olympia were virtually impassable. Of the nearly 1,400 incorporations filed in 1909, only 65 exist today. Fall quarter is a busy time for the club and this year is no exception. November signals the coming of winter and also the stepped up pace of the holidays. We kick off November with a Drama Dinner prior to the opening of the Tempest at the Jones Playhouse. On November 10, The Faulty Auxiliary hosts their Annual Scholarship Dinner, and on November 18 the UWRA Travelogue takes us on a safari to Kenya and Tanzania. November 28 is the Apple Cup Game and we’ll be open prior to the game. Look for details to these events in this issue of the UW Club News. December fills up fast with holiday parties. Most of our evenings are booked; although there is plenty of room during the day should you wish to celebrate by having a luncheon. If you haven’t scheduled your party, consider avoiding the rush and trying to accommodate busy schedules by holding your celebration in January. This strategy has been successful for several groups, and the club will give you a 10% discount on all food and beverage. Happy Thanksgiving! Alex Chordas
