Abstract

In this presentation, I would like to show our recent results on conjugated polymers (CPs) sheathed within their own cyclic sidechains. This kind of CPs is often referred to as insulated molecular wires (IMWs) and reminiscent of electric power cords. Due to the “insulation”, interwire electronic communication is prevented, which enables to extract the functions and properties of a single conjugated wire. We have found that these polymers are not only useful to elucidate conduction mechanism of CPs but also promising in a variety of fluorescence applications.
