ICORR-Consortium First General Assembly

Lunch Meetings
Monday and Tuesday, June 24-25, 12:30-13:50
ICORR 2013 Conference, Seattle, Washington, USA

While encouraging results are emerging from studies trying to translate research in robotic systems and therapies into clinical practice, the uptake of such technologies has been slow. Technologies are still at an embryonic developmental stage and lack of evidence supporting its use in the clinical environment. Numbers on a robotic trial are often limited due to the associated costs. A recommendation to increase the numbers would need to consider nonclinical sensitive measures with a common measurement protocol independent from the robot platform.

Since its creation at the ICORR’11 conference in Zurich, the ICORR-consortium has been working closely with the EU COST network and IISART (the industrial society), participating in several meetings and organizing satellite events at other conferences. The COST network has made substantial strides towards defining recommendations for robot-assisted assessments and technical features for future clinical evaluation studies. The ICORR-consortium executive office has been working closely with the European colleagues and sees great value in the ICORR-consortium taking this work forward under an international umbrella.

Following an ICORR-consortium round table session at the ICNR’12 conference last November, it was agreed that the group has gained substantial momentum to take the ICORR-consortium to the next level.  The agenda for the meeting is detailed below.
