Conference General Information

Transportation from airport, parking and getting to the HUB

Registration Desk
The registration desk will be located on the second floor of our main venue, the HUB in the North Prefunction space (HUB 203). Staff will be available to assist with registration check-in and to answer questions.
Registration Desk hours:
Sunday, August 24 - 7:00 to 18:30
Monday, August 25 through Wednesday, August 27 - 7:00 to 17:00
Thursday, August 28 - 8:00 to 12:00

Name Badges
Please wear your name badge at all times during the conference. Your badge is your entrance ticket to all conference sessions.

Internet Access
Free wireless internet access is available campus-wide. To access the free Wifi you will be required to provide ISEE conference attendee specific log-in information which will be posted on signs around the HUB.

Guided Walks
ISEE volunteers will lead walks from local hotels to our campus venues on Sunday and Monday. details

Speaker Ready Room - HUB Room 238
All plenary, symposium, and oral session presenters must check in at the Speaker Ready Room preferably the day before your session where technicians will collect your presentation files. If you are checking in on the day of your session, please come by at least 90 minutes prior to the start of your session. There will be technical staff to assist with the upload of your files and provide the opportunity to preview your presentation. If you are unavoidably delayed, you must still go directly to the Speaker Ready Room. Do not plan to use your own laptop for presentations. Apple Mac computers will not be provided in any of the ISEE session rooms.

Mobile Phones, Pagers & Laptop Sound
As a courtesy to presenters and colleagues, please ensure that all mobile phones, pagers, and sound from your laptop are switched off during the conference sessions and workshops.

Lunches and Refreshments
Refreshment breaks will take place in two locations, the HUB Lyceum Lounge on the first floor just outside of HUB 160 and the HUB South Prefunction Space just outside of the South Ballroom on the second floor. Coffee, tea, and water will be provided during refreshment breaks and poster sessions.

As part of our effort to make our conference as environmentally sustainable as possible, a hearty vegetarian lunch buffet will be provided Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday on the ground floor level of the Husky Union Building. Look for signs directing you to the lunch distribution area. Your ISEE name badge is your ticket for lunch. If you indicated a special dietary request during online registration, a special lunch ticket was included with your registration packet and name badge. Please look for the special request table in the lunch distribution area. Compostable "to-go" containers will be provided.

Espresso, pastries, and other snacks will be available for purchase on the ground floor of the Husky Union Building in the ETC. Cafe.

Reuseable water bottle filling stations are located throughout the HUB and are noted in maps in the conference program.

Attire for the Conference
The dress code for attending the Scientific Program Sessions and the Opening Event will be casual. Please feel free to wear comfortable clothes suitable for walking to and from the venue in warm weather.

For the Conference Dinner cocktail attire is encouraged, but not required.

Electrical Power
The electric current used throughout the United States is 120 volts.

Sales Tax
In the City of Seattle, there is a 9.5% sales and use tax imposed on most goods and services.

University of Washington Smoking Free Campus
Smoking on UW Campus is not allowed and violations will be subject to fines. For more information or to find designated smoking areas around campus please visit www.smokefreeuw.washington.edu

Luggage check
Complimentary luggage storage will be provided on Wednesday and Thursday of the conference in HUB room 337.

Poster sessions
The poster sessions will be held daily in Mary Gates Hall, levels one and two. Poster presenters may mount their posters on their assigned board according to the following schedule. Posters are expected to be mounted on poster boards before 0830 and remain mounted until at least 1700; the room will be available to take down posters until at least 1800. A poster information table will be located near the poster boards and will be staffed from 0700 to 830 and 1100 to 1400 each day. Individual posters are assigned to a specific location and day of presentation; check at the poster desk for directions to your assigned poster board.  Push pins and velcro will be provided at the poster desk to attach poster materials to the boards.
Unopposed poster viewing time is between 1150 and 1400. Presenting authors are expected to be present at their posters at least between 1215 and 1400. Additional details

Parking near the HUB

Parking on campus is free on Sundays. Parking booths at entrances are not staffed on Sunday. You may park in the Central Plaza Garage or Padelford Garage.

Conference participants who wish to park on campus are responsible for purchasing daily permits as needed from one of the Parking Services booths, which are located at each entrance to campus. Please inform the gate attendant that you are attending an event in the HUB, and you will be directed to the appropriate parking area.
