Third International MASSIN Congress

held in conjunction with WSANS
July 13-15, 2011

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SPEAKERS

We plan to post speaker photos along with abstracts. Please send your photograph (if you have not already done so) to Mary Jane Shirakawa at mjshir@u.washington.edu.

Check in at the Speaker Ready Room at least 4 hours before your scheduled presentation. Staff will collect your presentation files at that time.

If you plan to use video in your PowerPoint, please include your video files.

Both Windows PC and MAC format computers will be available, and you will be well assisted.

Please plan the number of slides and videos in your presentation to conform to the time allotted (check the schedule). Suggestion: take the total time available for your talk, subtract the time used by videos in the presentation, and multiply the remainder of minutes by 2 slides. This is the maximum that you can show, some slides can be shown more quickly, and some take more time (word slides).

Reminder: The purpose of the presentation is to show your work in a succinct manner, and to provoke some good discussion. By finishing your presentation on time, you also show your respect to the other speakers.

All meeting participants including presenters must register for the meeting.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MODERATORS

Moderators should plan on arriving in the session room at least ten minutes before the start time of the session. You will want to check the program agenda and familiarize yourself with the planned talks for the session you are moderating. A representative from our audio-visual provider will be available at all times. Presentation files will be pre-loaded on the computer in the session room.

Your responsibilities include:

Keep the speakers on time. The schedule has time set aside for general discussions at the end of each session. A warning system will notify speakers about the impending conclusion of their talk, which will allow them to wrap up.

Lead and moderate the discussions. We expect that all discussions will be frank and fair, but held in a very congenial and friendly atmosphere.

Thank you for your contributions!
