Let’s Move! Child Care: Healthy Eating

Online STARS Training

"Let’s Move! Child Care: Healthy Eating" is a free online training course developed and maintained by state-approved trainers* at the University of Washington Center for Public Health Nutrition. This course provides information for early childhood professionals on ways to provide healthy beverages and food to the toddlers and preschoolers (ages 2-5) in their care. The material in this training has been adapted from the Let’s Move! Child Care webinars on healthy eating.


Course Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
1. Explain to others how nutrition affects child health and why healthy eating is important in child care.
2. Tell others about the evidence-based standards for healthy eating in child care.
3. Take home ideas on how to improve healthy eating practices and policies in your child care program.
4. Talk to parents about the importance of healthy eating for children at home.

STARS Credits*

One (1) STARS continuing education hour in Health, Safety & Nutrition can be earned by completing the Let’s Move! Child Care online training.

Cost

This online training is made freely available to early childhood professionals thanks to support from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Washington State Department of Health.

MERIT is an online professional development tool for early care & education and school-age professionals that is owned and operated by the Department of Early Learning (DEL) and manages State Training and Registry System (STARS) training.
