Her teaching and research interests include Greek tragedy, Platonic dialogue, and the reception of myth in contemporary culture (especially popular film and television). Her approach is informed by gender studies and performative aspects of ancient Greek culture. She has published several translations of Greek tragedy (including Medea and Sophocles' Theban Plays), which are designed to help students understand these dramas in their original cultural context, served as an advisor for local theatrical productions, and provided ancilliary material for shows at On the Boards. Her most recent book is on the figure of Helen of Troy in Greek myth and literature.
