How to Apply

After thirty years, the University of Washington Clinical Scholars Program has accepted our last cohort of Scholars (2004-06). Our program will be ending June 30, 2006. The RWJ Clinical Scholars Program will continue in a revised format at four sites. Please contact the National Program Office for site information and continuing program details.

In order to be eligible for the Clinical Scholars Program, physicians must:

  • Be committed to a career consonant with the program's purposes and priorities;
  • Be highly regarded as physicians by those responsible for their clinical training
  • Plan to complete the clinical requirements of their residency training by the date of entry into the program; in addition, Scholars may not hold appointments as subspecialty fellows during their tenure in the program
  • Not plan to receive supplemental salary support from other sources during the fellowship
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Physicians who meet these requirements may request application forms by contacting the RWJ CSP National Program Office, or by writing to:

RWJ Clinical Scholars Program
 30 Alta Road

FAX: (650) 566-2340

Candidates should initiate the application process as soon as possible, because it begins 18 months before successful candidates would begin their terms as Clinical Scholars. Applications, including on-site interviews at programs, must be completed between January 1 and April 1, of the calendar year preceding proposed entry into the program. Candidates are encouraged to make inquiries and begin preliminary discussions with program directors even prior to this period.
