The 2007 Dean's Medalist in the Arts
The Arts and Sciences Dean’s Medal is awarded to four graduating seniors each year, one from each of the College’s four divisions—arts, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Recipients are selected on the basis of grade point average and faculty recommendations. |

2007 Venture Scholarship from the Mary Gates Endowment. They are conceptualizing, directing, and producing an interdisciplinary performance art production. The collaborative rehearsal process aims to integrate dance, music, drama, and creative writing. Entitled "Getting Undressed," it will premiere May 17-20th at the Ethnic Cultural Theater on the UW campus. Faculty mentors are Hannah Wiley (Dance), Shanga Parker (Drama), Paul Moore (Music), and Shawn Wong (English). Contact Shannon and Leah to get on the mailing list! |

Received a 2006 grant from the College of Arts and Sciences. She will create an instructional DVD based on her article Teaching Experiential Anatomy through Modern Technique.

Recipient of a 2005 National College Choreography Award sponsored by Dance USA and the National Endowment for the Arts. In conjunction with the University of Maryland/College Park, Mark will create a new work for the UM dance department and perform his solo, "The Goldberg Variations" at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.
Mark is also an approved candidate on the 2005 Fulbright Senior Specialists Roster, making him eligible to be matched with incoming program requests from overseas academic institutions until 2015. |

Received a UW Royalty Research Fund Award, 2004-2005 for her project titled Contextualizing and preserving the heritage of American modern dance. This project involves editing and digitizing Chamber Dance Company performances of choreography by Mary Wigman, Dore Hoyer and Michio Ito. The resulting DVD's will include interviews with performers and restagers in addition to photographs and historical information.
Ms. Wiley was also awarded a Donald E. Petersen Endowed Professorship for June 2005 – June 2008 for her extraordinary record of achievement in and contribution to the arts at the University of Washington. |
