Although the Sieur de la Chesnaye, Lambert de Beaulieu and Jacque Salmon are the only individuals associated with composing the verse and music for Le Balet Comique de la Reine, it is quite possible that Baïf played some role in the preparation of the production. Baïf was actively involved with trying to rediscover and recreate the effects of ancient measured music and verse, and is believed to have expressed interest devising a dance mesurée.
