Friends of the
Dance Program,
In our last newsletter I addressed the potential budget cuts facing the University
and the Dance Program. The current budget projections are worse than anticipated.
We are facing tuition increases, larger classes, students forced to graduate
prior to completion of double majors (the double major is a path chosen by
many of our students given the economic climate of the country). The need
for scholarships grows exponentially in a situation such as this. The faculty,
staff and students have a difficult road facing them for the next two biennia.
We use our resources judiciously to guarantee that our students have a positive
and creative experience, however, we are coming to a breaking point. Until
we can turn straw into gold we are even more dependent upon your generous
contributions. So I ask that if you can help you do so now, through a financial
donation, a gift in-kind, or through volunteering your time or expertise.
