2003 UW Summer Arts Festival July 16-19

Dance once again plays a starring role in the fourth annual UW Summer Arts Festival. Make plans now to attend these great events.

Under the direction of Hannah C. Wiley, the Chamber Dance Company repertoire investigates the influence of the circular form on choreographers Isadora Duncan, Ted Shawn, Tandy Beal, Susan Marshall and Hannah Kahn, and includes a guest performance by the Simpson/Kyle Company. The Meany Studio performances are at 7:30 p.m. on July 16 and 18, 12:30 p.m. on July 17 and 19, and 3:45 p.m. on July 19. Tickets are $12, $10 for students, seniors and UWAA members.

Lorraine and Rob Kitsos return from Hong Kong to create another stirring work on Dance Program undergraduates set against the backdrop of campus landscape and architecture. Dance on the Quad performances are free and scheduled for 11:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. July 17, 18 and 19.

Peter Kyle’s work is featured in Lune––Choreographic Musings on the Geometry of a Sphere. The Meany Studio performances are free at 6:00 p.m. July 16, 6:30 p.m. July 17 and 4:00 p.m. July 18.
