BALLET COMPANYThe second annual performance by The Ballet Company at the University of Washington opened in April to rave reviews. In only it’s second season, the group has already grown to twenty-three performers and presented a program that showcased amazing works by seven different choreographers from around the Seattle area. It was a very diverse show, featuring contemporary ballet pieces set to an eclectic mix of music. Most pieces were performed with traditional ballet slippers, although some were danced with pointe shoes. In a dance program with such a strong modern focus, part of the company’s purpose is to provide a performance opportunity to those dancers wanting to perform classic or contemporary ballet works. The choreographers, each from a wide variety of backgrounds, donated their time to create works with a pure ballet undertone. The Ballet Company is proud of this year’s production as it reached a broader audience and provided a unique performance opportunity for UW undergrads. The Ballet Company is a registered student organization of the University of Washington. For more information please email the Ballet Company. |
