We offer a four-year undergraduate liberal arts education, MFA degrees in acting, design, and directing, and a PhD in theatre history and criticism. Our location in Seattle, one of the great theatre cities of the world, and in a region noted for creative entrepreneurship, make our school a unique place to learn, work and perform.

Professor in Acting and Directing and Head of Performance, Valerie is currently an Artistic Associate at A Contemporary Theatre (ACT) where she oversees the Hansberry Project, an African American theatre lab.
The UW Professional Actor Training Program (PATP) has been a highly regarded three-year conservatory training program for more than forty years. We are devoted to preparing carefully selected actors for the professional world of theatre, film, television and newer digital media. Our training is based on the time honored traditions and practices of Stanislavski combined with extensive physical training that includes Suzuki training, the Viewpoints, Alexander Technique and Stage Combat.
