The School of Drama at the University of Washington uses a wide variety of technologies in day-to-day operations. The navigation bar above links to pages that are intended to provide current faculty, staff, and students with an overview of what is available. Prospective faculty, staff, and students are welcome to browse and see how we put technology to use.
These pages do not currently address technologies used within the many theatre spaces that we utilize for performances. There, we teach students how to use the equipment in our vast inventory, ranging from older fixed lighting found in small community theatres to high-end projectors and media servers found in the luckiest Broadway theatres. All of this equipment is utilized thoughout our season; some shows are intentionally low-tech, while others are extremely cutting-edge. The Technical Director for each production determines what technology will best fit the intentions of the director and various designers. If you have questions about theatre technology used here at the School of Drama, contact Bill Dock and he will direct you to the appropriate individuals
