Elizabeth Bonjean teaches theatre history, critical theory, and performance studies and is the faculty supervisor for undergraduate student internships. She received her Ph.D. in Theatre History, Theory, and Criticism from the University of Washington, and her B.A. and M.A. in Drama from San Francisco State University. Elizabeth's research focuses on memory, national identity, and mourning alongside theatre and cultural performances created in the aftermath of violence and war. Currently, she is at work on a book about the role of performance in the transmission of global political violence and the narratives of history. Publications include book chapters in Beauty, Violence, Representation (Routledge, forthcoming); The Wire: Urban Decay and American Television (Continuum); and Ethnicity and Identity (Rawat). Elizabeth has previously taught at the University of Texas at Austin in the Performance as Public Practice Program, and at Grinnell College. She was formerly a development associate and consultant with the Mark Taper Forum/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.
