UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON DREAM PROJECT

Our Partners

The Dream Project has partnered with a number of organizations—both on- and off-campus—to accomplish our mission. Our program could not function without their support.

University of Washington Undergraduate Academic Affairs

UAA

The Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs is the on-campus home for the Dream Project. As the core unit of the university for undergraduate support and resources, the UAA provides assistance to undergraduates and their families, and to faculty, staff, and programs dealing with undergraduate affairs. The UAA is home to the Undergraduate Scholarship Office, the Undergraduate Research Program, Carlson Leadership and Public Service Center, the Pipeline Project, the Teaching Academy, the Gateway Advising Center, the Honors Program and the Nancy Robinson Center for Young Scholars, the Program on the Environment, First Year Programs, Classroom Support Services, the Center for Learning and Undergraduate Enrichment (CLUE), and the Office of Educational Assessment.

Their mission states that “Undergraduate Academic Affairs focuses and upholds the University's commitment to excellence in undergraduate learning by developing transformative educational experiences for all undergraduate students within and beyond the classroom.” The core values of the UAA are collaboration, innovation, integrity, respect, and diversity. Through many highly recognized programs and centers, the UAA upholds these values and ensures that they are incorporated into every aspect of every individual undergraduate student’s educational career at the University of Washington.

The Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW)

ASUW

The ASUW is the University of Washington’s student government and is comprised of the following bodies: the UW Student Senate and Board of Directors, the Office of Governmental Relations, Rainy Dawg Radio, the Bike Shop, the Experimental College, the Arts and Entertainment Committee, the Student Housing Affairs Office, the Committee Organizing Rape Education (CORE), UW Leaders, and the affiliated Commissions. The ASUW Commissions include the following groups: the American Indian Student Commission, the Asian Student Commission, the Black Student Commission, the Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian, and Transgender Commission, La Raza Student Commission, the Pacific Islander Student Commission, and the Women’s Action Commission.

As the core body of student relations at the University of Washington, the ASUW affects the lives of all of the students on campus. The ASUW is dedicated to retaining a diverse student population—diverse in race, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, housing and commuting preference, hobbies and interests, and level of involvement. Various ASUW groups and committees work regularly with the offices of the UW President, Vice President and Board of Regents, as well as with lobbyists and state officials, to enhance the University of Washington experience for all attending students.

Education Access Network (EAN)

EAN

Education Access Network (EAN) is a publicly supported nonprofit organization that serves a community of students in the Seattle and surrounding communities, including Tacoma and Everett. Its mission is to provide youth and adults with affordable access to quality courses and educational services aimed at helping students prepare for and succeed in higher education and other academic endeavors. EAN believes that limited financial resources should never restrict a student's access to educational opportunities. Therefore, if a student is unable to pay all or even a portion of the cost of the course or program offered, EAN is committed to working with the student to reduce or fully wave the course or program fees.

Some of the courses and programs that EAN provides to middle school, high school, and adult learners include standardized test preparation (including SAT and ACT preparation), math and science review, research and writing workshops, and college admissions essay writing. A majority of the classes are held at the University of Washington. (The use of classroom space at the University of Washington campus is made possible because of the generous support of the University of Washington State GEAR UP project and its Executive Director, Thomas Calhoun, Jr. The Washington State GEAR UP Project is a partnership of the Office of the Governor, the University Of Washington College Of Arts and Sciences, and the Higher Education Coordinating Board and is funded by a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education.) EAN also is working with other area organization and corporations, including the Center for Career Alternatives, College Access Now at Garfield High School, and the Roosevelt Square Starbucks to provide courses and/or develop special programs.
