  • Join Our Class

The Dream Project can't work without student volunteers. If you're interested in joining our class, read the information below.

    How does the program work?

The Dream Project connects UW students with underrepresented high-school students to work through the college admissions process. Learn more about how it works.

    Who can join?

The class is open to any University of Washington undergraduate student, graduate student, or alumnus. Other community members are welcome to participate as well. If you are not a UW student or alumnus but would still like to join, please contact us directly.

    What is the commitment?

"Dream Team" members are expected to be available for about a minimum of 3 hours per week:

    • The class meetings at UW.
In Autumn 2011, our class meets Mondays from 3:30-4:50 in Kane 130. In the class, we learn about different aspects of the admissions process, invite special guests to speak (like the Director of Admissions from the UW), and discuss a number of different issues and policies. The course is listed as EDUC 360, a 2-credit course that is graded as credit/no-credit.
    • A visit to the high school once a week.
Each student is expected to visit a high school at least once a week to work with high school students. We visit the schools many times a week and we'll work with you to find a time that works for your schedule. Transporatation will be provided by the Dream Project. Times and locations will bet set by High School Leads.
    • Other events and activities throughout the year.
Occasionally, the Dream Project will host other events throughout the year. Examples include our Spring BBQ, where the high school students are invited to the UW campus for a visit and a BBQ, and our Admissions Workshop Weekend in the fall, which is an intensive essay-writing workshop at UW.

Do I have to take the class for credit?

If you want to join without receiving credit, please still sign up by clicking the button above. This ensures that you are in our system and we know to expect you.

What if I can't make it to the class, but I still want to help?

If you can't attend the class on Mondays but you'd still like to work with high school students each week, contact us directly to make arrangements.

    What about transportation?

The Dream Project provides transportation. Mentors travel together to the high schools in groups in university vehicles.
