Press Release

Presentations (PDF)

The 4th King County Overweight Prevention Initiative Forum was held on Friday, May 12, 2006, from 8:30 AM to 2:10 PM at Highline Community College in Des Moines, WA.

This forum is part of an ongoing countywide effort to bring together community organizations, government agencies, and academic researchers to develop innovative and effective strategies for preventing and controlling overweight and obesity in our region, while promoting physical activity and healthy eating.

The forum is sponsored by the King County Board of Health, Public Health-Seattle & King County, and the University of Washington Exploratory Center for Obesity Research (ECOR) and Center for Public Health Nutrition. James Sallis, PhD, from San Diego State State University spoke about Policies to Promote Evidence-Based Physical Activity Interventions, and Deb Bowen, from the University of Washington challenged members of the forum to define new paradigms for promoting healthy eating.
