Election results are in for membership on the 1998 campus Health and Safety committees. Members will serve through Dec. 31. As part of regulatory mandates that the University must meet, these committees are composed of both elected and appointed membe rs. Among other tasks, the Health and Safety Committees may review and evaluate accident investigation reports, health and safety inspections, and health and safety plans. They also serve as a forum within which employee concerns about health and safety ca n be discussed. With the wide variety of activities that exist at the University of Washington, the potential for health and safety risks is probably equivalent to that of a small city. The oversight provided by the committees is an important conduit in identifying and solving problems before major risks occur to the campus community. The members listed below are your representatives. Call them and your supervisors if you have any health and safety concerns. If you have questions about which group represents you or would like more information about health and safety programs on campus, please contact the Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) at 543-7388.
