An advisory committee for the search for a new UW Bothell campus dean has been created, chaired by Graduate School Dean Marsha Landolt. A new dean is expected to be appointed by the end of summer 1998. The new dean will replace Norman J. Rose, who has resigned after more than three years of exemplary leadership at Bothell. Rose is a professor of chemistry and has served the University since 1966. President Richard L. McCormick cited a number of challenges facing the new dean in his letter to the committee including: creating a physical campus; cooperating with the Cascadia Community College; maintaining UW Bothell's institutional character and independence; managing growth in the number of students, faculty, and programs; and strengthening relationships with the local communities. Serving on the committee with Landolt are: Constantin Behler, professor, Liberal Studies Program, UW Bothell; Frederick Campbell, dean, Undergraduate Education; Vicky Carwein, dean, UW Tacoma; Renee Crow, president, ASUW Bothell; Kathleen Drew, member, UW Bothell Citizens Advisory Committee; Cynthia Fugate, campus librarian and director, Academic Services, UW Bothell; Carole Kubota, Education Program, UW Bothell; Ernest Morris, vice president for Student Affairs; Walter Ruzzo, professor, Computer Science and Engineering; Stan Slater, director, Business Administration Program, UW Bothell; and Debbie Ward, professor, Department of Psychosocial and Community Health. ¶ |
