Dr. Nancy Hooyman, dean of the School of Social Work, has been chosen to receive the 1998 Career Achievement Award by the National Association for Gerontology in Social Work Education. Nationally recognized for her educational work in aging, especially in the area of family caregiving, Hooyman is the co-author of Taking Care: Supporting Older People andTheir Families and Social Gerontology: A Multidisciplinary Perspective (fifth edition) with Asuman Kiyak, director of the UW Institute on Aging.
The Harborview Mental Health Services Citizens Advisory Board seeks members to represent the community and support outpatients. Potential members should have an interest in mental-health issues and be willing to commit to at least one or two meetings per month.
