Patrick Duffy, right, best known for his role on the Dallas TV series, visited the UW School of Drama last week. Duffy held a Q&A session with undergraduate drama students and worked with a class of the Professional Actor Training Program, including David Long, left. Duffy also had a personal reason for the visit; his son Conor is a freshman and was performing in a workshop production.

The Apple Cup is just a football game, but a bet is a bet. So WSU President Samuel H. Smith, right, winner of this year's bet between the presidents of the state's two research universities, took his place as UW-President-For-A-Day Tuesday. His first 'official' action was to propose the UW become a WSU branch campus; it received no support in the President's Cabinet meeting. UW President Richard L. McCormick and Smith spent the rest of the day discussing opportunities for WSU/UW collaboration and other shared issues. WSU defeated the UW 41-35 in the November game. 980129-10
