The faculty of the UW Dance Program will present its annual concert April 912 in the Meany Studio Theatre. Chair Hannah Wiley has created a trio to Yo-Yo Ma's recording of music by Astor Piazzola. There are two works by Rip Parker on the program, both with music by Michael Cava. One is a duet inspired by the Dylan Thomas poem Fern Hill and the other is a solo performed by Gail Heilbron set to Cava's score for piano and vocalist Thomassa Eckhert. Inspired by visions of flying and the power and mystery of Amelia Earhart, Rebecca Malcom has created a dance for 10 women. And Mark Kane's jazz style showcases a variety of talents and provides the toe-tapping closer. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets, which are $58, are available at the Arts Ticket Office, 4001 University Way NE.

Like to have one of these numbers to clean your house? Custodial Services has had back-pack vacuum cleaners for many years, but the new model being used here by Gloria Wells is especially popular with the custodians because of weight (10 lbs.), ease of use, and good suction. They are used for cleaning in corners and under desks, on dust-catching horizontal surfaces, in stairwells, and for control of overhead spider and insect debris.
