Federal Way now has the services of UW Physicians with the opening March 30 of the UW Physicians Federal Way Clinic. The clinic is located just east of the SeaTac Mall at the corner of 320th and 23nd Ave. South. Large purple awnings draw attention to the clinic, conveniently located next to a large Park & Ride station. Clinic hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Starting June 1, Saturday and evenings hours also will be available. The clinic phone number is (253) 839-3030. In keeping with increasing area growth, the clinic offers family practice with obstetrics. Staff includes Dr. Sarah Kramer, clinic chief, and Dr. Mark Murphy. Family practice doctors provide complete, continuing health care for patients of all ages, from newborn to seniors, with all types of problems. Family doctors are trained in a broad range of areas in outpatient medicine, including obstetrics, pediatrics, minor surgical procedures and injury evaluation and management. Kramer says the clinic is dedicated to patient convenience, with a high level of patient service and short wait times. The clinic offers free "get-acquainted" visits for those interested in meeting the physicians. The Federal Way Clinic is the seventh clinic opened by UW Physicians in the past two years. Most of the clinics are located in suburban neighborhoods. Other clinics include West Seattle, Woodinville, Issaquah, Factoria, Kent/Des Moines and Belltown. The primary-care clinics are jointly sponsored by UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, UW Physicians and the UW School of Medicine. They are designed to make primary care from UW doctors accessible to most King County residents, said network Executive Director Mike Evans. Prior to the network's inception in April 1996, UW Physicians practiced primarily at UW Medical Center and Harborview. The network was launched after a survey of King County residents showed many would visit a UW clinic if it were within 15 minutes of work or home, Evans said. UW Physicians neighborhood clinics are scheduled to open later in 1998 in Auburn and Shoreline. ¶ University Week The faculty and staff publication of the University of Washington uweek@u.washington.edu April 9, 1998
