Sam Miller: Focusing on bacteria's survival strategies Shoreline Clinic, eighth in network, opens Junior heading for med school wins UNCF-Merck Scholarship
Dr. John C. Gienapp has been appointed director of graduate medical education program assessment and development at the School of Medicine. He most recently was the executive director of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in Chicago, and was previously the associate director of the Department of Graduate Medical Education at the American Medical Association. In the newly created post, which he assumed April 2, Gienapp will oversee the UW's residency training programs. He will work with Dr. Bruce Gilliland, associate dean for clinical affairs. Gienapp brings more than 19 years of experience in assessing residency training in all clinical disciplines across the country as executive director of the umbrella organization for the nation's various residency review committees. At the UW, he will pursue new opportunities for curriculum development in graduate medical education and fellowship training. A science historian, Gienapp earned a doctorate in history from the University of Kansas and a master of divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.
