Events related to Lawrence exhibit

A number of events are scheduled in conjunction with the Jacob Lawrence art exhibition. Here is a listing of what’s on the schedule:

  • Art Dialogue with Marcia Bartholome, director and publisher of Beta Press, printer of Ten Builders, 7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, Henry Gallery.
  • Mid-day Art Moments, conversations on the exhibit with museum staff members, 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 15 and Thursday, Sept. 10.
  • Artists and Colleagues: Jacob Lawrence and Michael Spafford, the two emeritus professors share anecdotes, artistic perspectives and a look back at their careers, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 120 Kane, $8 general, $4 members and students.
  • Open Studio: Exploring the Art of Jacob Lawrence, a studio space at the gallery where adults and children can respond to the exhibition through art-making activities, 1­4 p.m. Sundays, July 12, 26, August 9, 23 and Sept. 6, 20 and 27; 1­4 p.m. Thursdays, July 23, August 6, 20, Sept. 3, 17 (open 4­ 8 p.m. Sept. 17).
  • Jacob Lawrence: American Artist, award-winning documentary about the artist, running continuously between 1 and 4 p.m. every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, Henry Gallery. ¶
