Teaching Academy council named

The Teaching Academy of the University of Washington has selected 11 professors to serve on its first advisory council. Council members, who will serve three year, staggered terms, include: Victoria Lawson, Geography; Dee Boersma, Zoology; Norm Rose, Chemistry and dean of UW Bothell; Lesley Olswang, Speech and Hearing Sciences; David Hodge, Geography and acting dean of Arts and Sciences; Greg Miller, Civil Engineering; Edwina Uehara, Social Work; Robert Steiner, Medicine; Robert Crutchfield, Sociology; Robert Stacey, History; and Willis Konick, Comparative Literature.

The Teaching Academy was formed this spring and is made up of all the UW professors who have won Distinguished Teaching Awards. Its purpose is to bring together and promote efforts to enhance teaching across campus. Fisheries Professor Loveday Conquest is the academy’s director. ¶
