Cancer Society funding available for new projects

The American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant to the UW supports cancer-related research by faculty from the UW and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. This grant is especially designed to allow junior faculty members (assistant professor or equivalent) to initiate promising new projects in cancer research and can provide essential support needed to generate the necessary data for formal grant applications to the American Cancer Society for the National Cancer Institute.

Funds are allocated for up to a year and may be for up to $15,000 per project. Applications for cancer-related psychosocial and behavioral research and studies of cancer in the economically disadvantaged are encouraged. Support of investigators who have a current or previous competitive national research grant or who have received prior support from the Institutional Research Grant is not permitted; however, concurrent salary grants are acceptable. Fellows and senior faculty are not eligible. The application deadline is Aug. 15.

Applications and instructions can be obtained by calling 667-6446 or by e-mail at mreeves@fhcrc.org.
