Spine research chair endowed by Surgical Dynamics

Surgical Dynamics announced this week that it will establish the Surgical Dynamics Endowed Chair for Spine Research at the UW School of Medicine.

The $2 million endowment — the first of its kind by Surgical Dynamics — will support research on the prevention and management of injuries and diseases that affect the spine.

“We are grateful for this generous support from Surgical Dynamics,” said Dr. Paul Ramsey, dean of the medical school. “This endowed chair will assist the school in pursuing important research on the spine.”

“The Surgical Dynamics Endowed Chair for Spine Research will greatly enhance our spine research efforts by enabling the department to attract and retain a distinguished faculty member,” said Dr. Frederick A. Matsen III, chair of the Department of Orthopaedics. “We are very pleased that Surgical Dynamics has chosen to support our efforts in this important area.”

“The University of Washington School of Medicine is a world-renowned teaching center and a leader in many areas of medical research,” said Judith M. Stant, president of Surgical Dynamics. “We are proud to establish this chair and support the university’s spine research programs.”
