Study Subjects Wanted The School of Nursing is seeking women with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and healthy control women to participate in a research study. The study includes: a 2 hour gastric motility session involving: swallowing a pill sized (oblong) magnet, measurement of heart rate through the use of a portable monitor and relaxing in a bed while your stomach contractions are measured by a compass placed on your belly. Midway through the session, you will drink a small cup of a tasty liquid meal and following the session remove the magnet by drawing it back into your mouth. To qualify you must be 1845 years old; have regular menstrual periods; have no chronic illness (call if you are unsure); and are able to read and write English. Compensation, $60.
