Alzheimer’s disease public forum planned Sept. 9

A free public forum on “Alzheimer’s Disease: Current Advances in Clinical Care and Research” will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Kane Hall, room 101, on campus.

The forum is sponsored by the UW Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and the UW School of Nursing’s de Tornyay Center on Healthy Aging.

Speakers and topics include:

  • Dr. Tom Bird, “Is Alzheimer’s Disease Inherited? Update on What We Know about the Genetics of Alzheimer’s Disease.”
  • Dr. Jay Uomoto, “Is Alzheimer’s Disease Different in Different Peoples? Research Findings in Cross-Cultural Research on Alzheimer’s Disease.”
  • Dr. Elaine Peskind, “Treatments on the Horizon: Current and Anticipated Medications for Alzheimer’s Disease.”
  • Dr. Linda Teri, “Treatments on the Horizon: Strategies for Families Caring for Alzheimer’s Patients.”
