Oil portrait of Marian Gould Gallagher
The UW School of Law held a “portrait party” last week to celebrate the acquisition of a new oil portrait of Marian Gould Gallagher, who served the law school from 19441981. Gallagher was a nationally known law librarian and mentor to generations of law librarians. Posing here with the portrait are Betty Wilkins, left, and Viola Bird, both retired librarians who served with Gallagher. The portrait is by Spokane artist Marian Flahavin and replaces a photograph that has hung in the library—which is named for Gallagher—since 1982. The painting was a gift from an anonymous donor.
