The UW School of Law held a portrait party last week to celebrate the acquisition of a new oil portrait of Marian Gould Gallagher, who served the law school from 19441981. Gallagher was a nationally known law librarian and mentor to generations of law librarians. Posing here with the portrait are Betty Wilkins, left, and Viola Bird, both retired librarians who served with Gallagher. The portrait is by Spokane artist Marian Flahavin and replaces a photograph that has hung in the librarywhich is named for Gallaghersince 1982. The painting was a gift from an anonymous donor.

Summer research displayedSeveral poster sessions were organized in August at the Health Sciences Center to display research work done in special summer sessions. During the school year, she is a student at Xavier University in New Orleans.

Dentistry Research DayLeroy Hood, professor and chair of the UW Department of Molecular Biotechnology, was the keynote speaker for the School of Dentistrys Research Day 1998, held on Sept. 24.
