Educational Technology Showcase coming Oct. 23 Seventeen exhibitors will be demonstrating new programs and services at the Second Annual Showcase of Innovative Educational Technology, set for 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, in room 316 of South Campus Center. The event is free and open to everyone. In April 1997, the IAIMS (Integrated Advanced Information Management System) Program at the UW, which is based at the Health Sciences Library, sponsored the first Showcase of Innovative Educational Technology to demonstrate projects created by faculty members who received mini-grants from the program. Although the mini-grants were a one-time incentive, health sciences faculty and staff have continued to develop teaching tools and materials using sophisticated technology. The range of technology-related services available to faculty members has also grown. This second Showcase is also sponsored by the IAIMS Program. One demonstration at the Showcase will feature the Instructional Site Locator, a database that allows faculty members to easily search for examples of other university courses in specified disciplines. UW faculty and staff who have developed the exhibited programs will be on hand to give demonstrations and discuss their efforts.
