Director of NHLBI to speak next week for Butler Lecture Dr. Claude Lenfant, director of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, one of the National Institutes of Health, will speak at the Health Sciences Center next week. Lenfant's topic is "NHLBI: From $500,000 to $1.7 BillionWhere Do We Go From Here?" He will speak from 4 to 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 26, in room D-209 of the Health Sciences Center. His presentation is the sixth John Butler Memorial Lecture, sponsored by the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. The lecture is open to everyone. Lenfant, who earned his medical degree at the University of Paris, France, in 1956, was a faculty member at the UW School of Medicine from 1961 to 1970 in the Departments of Medicine and of Physiology and Biophysics. He left the UW for the National Institutes of Health, where he held several administrative research positions before becoming director of the NHLBI in 1982.
