Dr. David Heimbach, director of the UW Burn Center at Harborview, was installed as president of the International Society for Burn Injury (ISBI) at the society’s recent meeting in Jerusalem. Heimbach, a UW professor of surgery, is the third American to be elected president in the group’s 40-year history. ISBI has 2,000 members from 90 countries working to advance research, education and prevention of burns throughout the world. The organization meets every four years. Because of Heimbach’s presidency, the 2002 meeting will be in Seattle.
