REI talk on preparing for winter

“Preparing for Off-Trail Winter Fun” is the topic for the next Healthy-U presentation, beginning at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16, at the REI downtown Seattle store. Dr. Jeanne-Marie Maher, an avid mountaineer, snowshoer and skiier who teaches mountain-oriented first aid, and Lori Sabado, an outdoorswoman and physical therapist who specializes in sports-related injuries, will offer advice on making smart decisions before and during winter sports adventures. Tips will include choosing appropriate clothing, how to avoid and treat hypothermia, and preventing or treating injuries. The presentation, sponsored by UW Physicians, is free and open to everyone. ¶
