MUMMY DEAREST: Residing at the Burke Museum since 1902, Seattle’s only Egyptian mummy will be on display the entire month of December. Unearthed at Fayum, Egypt, she is about 2,000 years old and is thought have lived during the period that ended with the reign of Cleopatra in 30 B.C. Typical for this period of Egyptian history, the mummy, reportedly an adolescent woman of some wealth, wears a painted mask and a chest covering made of linen soaked in plaster. The display coincides with the Seattle Art Museum’s exhibition, Egypt: Gift of the Nile. A receipt from the SAM exhibit entitles the bearer to a discounted admission at the Burke.

PACCAR, the maker of Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks, has worked closely with the UW Aeronautical Laboratory on aerodynamic testing for new product development.
