Gorgon
This sketch depicts a gorgon, one of history’s most ferocious predators, attacking a dicynodon, a tortoise-beaked herbivore. Neither creature survived the world’s most severe mass extinction 250 million years ago at the end of the Permian period, the last phase of the Paleozoic era. Holiday cards
Holiday card-making—About 50 UW Medical Center employees gathered Dec. 3 for a workshop on hand-made holiday cards. Dianne Erickson, the medical center’s artist in residence, set up materials and offered advice. The workshop was a change from her usual duties, which involve art projects with patients. The card-making workshop was part of the medical center’s First Thursday series of lunchtime programs for employees.
