Volunteers, speaker honored at MLK Tribute
The Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute at the Health Sciences Center last week included recognition of volunteers from each of the health sciences schools and UW Medical Center who are working for better communities. The volunteers recognized were Courtney Chinn of the School of Dentistry, Rosalia Mendoza of the School of Medicine, Sharon Parkman of the School of Nursing, Rhalene Gabuat of the School of Pharmacy, Kristine Wong of the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, the Bridges of Color program in the School of Social Work and Anthony Moore, a UW Medical Center employee. Each received a certificate and a summary of their volunteer work was read to the audience. The Rev. Samuel McKinney, keynote speaker, received the first annual Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute Distinguished Service Award for Community Service and Volunteerism.
