President names committee for long-range diversity plan An Advisory Committee on Diversity composed of faculty, staff and students was appointed by President Richard L. McCormick this week and charged with re-imagining “the work of maintaining and extending diversity at the University of Washington” and advising the president and the campus community on how to do that. The committee will focus on long-range planning and policies. The appointment of the committee is just one of several initiatives the UW is taking to maintain and increase diversity on campus in the wake of Initiative 200, which bans the use of race and sex as a preference in Washington state.
