UW Medical Center names chief operating officer
Kathleen Sellick joined UW Medical Center last month as associate executive director and chief operating officer. The appointment was made by Rob Muilenburg, UWMC executive director. Before joining UWMC, Sellick had been executive vice president and chief operating officer of St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, Calif., for the past four years. St. Joseph is a 418-bed facility affiliated with the St. Joseph Health System and Childrens Hospital of Orange County. Her responsibilities included business development, finance, human resources, medical affairs, nursing, and quality improvement. Prior to joining St. Joseph in October 1994, Sellick was vice president of administration for Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, a 400-bed facility in Newport Beach, Calif. She joined Hoag in 1986 as its director of outreach development. Sellick also worked at American Medical International in Beverly Hills, Calif., Westgate Medical Center in Denton, Texas, and was an administrative resident at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. A Phoenix native, Sellick is a graduate of Arizona State University and received her M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
