Sports and Outdoor Activities for People with Disabilities is the topic for the next Healthy-U presentation at 7 p.m., Monday, March 15, at the REI store in downtown Seattle. Dr. Steven Stiens, assistant professor of rehabilitation medicine, and David Tostenrude, certified therapeutic recreation specialist for the VA, will be the speakers. The talk is free.
Campus-Community Partnerships for Health, based at the Center for the Health Professions at the University of California, San Francisco, will hold its third annual national conference at the Westin Hotel in Seattle March 27 to 30. The non-profit organization fosters partnerships between communities and educational institutions, including programs for service learning. UW President Richard L. McCormick will be a featured presenter at the conference. Rebecca Kang of the School of Nursing, Sarena Seifer of the School of Medicine and Sharon Doyle of the Graduate School of Public Affairs represent the UW on the Planning Committee.
