Math Day 99 posed a puzzling situation for Lisa Hesse, a Moses Lake sophomore. She was among an estimated 1,000 high school students on campus to participate in an array of campus field trips and hands-on activities. Faculty pitched in to help with the event, bringing in their expertise from physics, astronomy, aeronautics & astronautics, health sciences, oceanography, astmospheric sciences, geophysics, mathematics, computer science & engineering, business, applied mathematics, the Applied Physics Lab, the planetarium, the statistics lab, the seismology lab, Henry Art Gallery, construction management, and the Human Interface Technology Lab. |

U.S. Ambassador to Japan Thomas S. Foley spoke to UW students from business, law and the Jackson School for International Studies during a recent campus visit.
