Women in Leadership Roundtable set for April 29

UW female faculty and administrators will take part in a Women in Leadership Roundtable at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 29, in the Don James Center at Husky Stadium. Members of the campus community are welcome to attend.

The roundtable discussion—presented by the President’s Advisory Committee on Women and the Special Committee on Faculty Women—will focus on skills and qualities of successful leaders, identifying and overcoming obstacles, communication, and confidence and self-esteem.

Participants will include Cherry McGee Banks, associate professor at UW Bothell; Vicky Carwein, chancellor and dean of UW Tacoma; Loveday Conquest, associate dean of the College of Ocean and Fisheries Science; Martha Deitz, assistant vice president for development; and Sue Hegyvary, professor and former dean of the School of Nursing. Dean of Engineering Denice D. Denton, chair of the President’s Advisory Committee on Women, will serve as moderator.

President Richard L. McCormick appointed the 29-member advisory committee in 1996 to help improve the campus climate for women at the University. The committee’s charge is to identify issues of concern and to share information on the status of women at the University. The committee also advises the president on issues relating to women at the University and how to improve the status of women faculty, staff and students. ¶
