Outstanding volunteers honored for contributions
The University honored four outstanding volunteers in ceremonies April 22. Peg Corwin was honored for her work with the Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisor (SHIBA) program, which helps people make decisions about their health insurance as well as understanding medical bills and Medicare benefits. Wendy Jordan was honored for her work with Friends of the UW Libraries as a leader, fundraiser organizer and supporter, especially as the coordinator for the Friends book sale. Peter Yeung, an undergraduate, was recognized for his work with FIUTS (Foundation for International Understanding Through Students) in managing the organizations database and designing the Web site.
Gayle Carter was honored as a volunteer for the past 11 years with the UW Medical Centers Layette Program, buying clothing and baby items that are presented to the neediest new mothers whose babies are born at the medical center.
